Our client is a business development and work winning consultancy working across the UK and Ireland to help clients win work through bids and tenders. They have helped clients secure over £900m in new business since March 2020. 

They have developed the award-winning Bid Journey methodology, which their full business model is based on. They have also recently secured Scottish EDGE funding to develop an innovative technology platform based around the Bid Journey methodology.

The Bid Consultant plays a critical role in helping clients secure contracts through effective bid management and strategic consultancy. This multifaceted position involves bid writing, process improvement, and client advisory services. The Bid Consultant collaborates with various teams to enhance the organisation’s bidding capabilities and win rates.

Their key client sectors include:

  • Construction Contractors and Consultants
  • Facilities Management 
  • Professional Services

The successful candidate would be expected to have some previous experience in one or more of these sectors and demonstrate adaptability to work with clients across any of these sectors as the business requires. 

The role is a hybrid role, though the successful candidate will be expected to be based in our client’s office in Glasgow city centre at least three days per week and working from home two days per week. The successful candidate will also be expected to spend time meeting clients in person, either within the clients' office or our client’s Glasgow office at least once per month.  

Essential Qualities

Client Advisor:

  • The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering guidance and insights.
  • They should be comfortable leading meetings, workshops, and conversations with clients, ensuring effective communication and understanding of their needs.

Constructive Feedback:

  • The Bid Consultant must be confident in providing constructive feedback to clients when necessary.
  • They should challenge assumptions and propose improvements to enhance bid quality.

Multi-Client Management:

  • The role involves working with multiple clients concurrently.
  • The candidate should be adept at prioritising tasks, managing deadlines, and maintaining high-quality service across various accounts.

Account Management:

  • Operating within an Account Management model, the Bid Consultant will own relationships with specific clients.
  • They will nurture these relationships over time, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.

In-Person Interaction:

  • Candidates should be willing and able to travel to clients’ offices for face-to-face meetings, workshops, and collaborative sessions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential for building rapport and understanding client requirements.

Desirable Qualities

Industry Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with the industry or sectors relevant to the clients’ businesses is advantageous.
  • Understanding client-specific challenges and market dynamics enhances the Bid Consultant’s effectiveness.

Adaptability: 

  • The Bid Consultant should thrive in dynamic environments.
  • Adapting to varying client needs, project scopes, and organisational cultures is crucial.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary range for the role is c. £38k to £42k
