Support Worker – Waking Nights

Location: Broxburn, EH52 6NY
Salary: £12.50 per hour
Contract: Full-time, Permanent - 36 hours per week
Hours: Monday, Thursday and Friday nights (8:45pm-8:45am)

Elm Cottage Care Ltd is a small private family-owned Care Home for 8 adults with learning disabilities in Dechmont near Uphall and we are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, honest, and reliable person to join its team of support workers who would be committed to maintaining our high standard of care!

Support Worker – The Role

Your role would be to assist the residents with all aspects of their daily life including but not limited to daily routines as set out within care plans, mealtimes, personal care, and domestic support.

Support residents to go on social outings and attend appointments. To have a good understanding of effective communication in a professional manner with residents, colleagues and families, and other professionals.

To support residents to partake in meaningful activities and promote independence.

Key Responsibilities;

•  To supervise and encourage Residents to maintain or develop independent living skills and attributes.
•  To assist Residents with dressing, undressing, bathing, and toileting activities where necessary.
•  To help Residents with mobility problems and physical disabilities.
•  To include the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
•  To help promote the Resident's mental, physical, social, and spiritual well-being.
•  To assist with the care of Residents who are sick or incapacitated.
•  Domestic duties, as directed by the Manager, to maintain a fresh clean environment.
•  To oversee the setting of tables.  Assist Residents with meals and drinks if necessary.
•  Other kitchen duties, as directed by the Manager, to maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness.
•  Inspect, launder, and mend the Resident's clothing, as described in the nightly duty rota
•  Report and record factual information as necessary.
•  Participate in Staff and Residents meetings.

Candidates are required to work well as part of a team and contribute a positive difference to the lives of the people we care for and support, ensuring we provide the best outcome for each individual.

Knowledge and Experience with Epilepsy specifically would be beneficial for this role.

A clean Drivers License is essential. PVG check would be carried out after the interview.

SVQ 2 is also desirable however not essential as opportunities would be available to the right person who would be willing to work towards gaining these qualifications.

Registration with SSSC would be necessary within 3 months of employment.

To be prepared to "Whistle Blow" in any situation of abuse. You are responsible and legally required, under the " Public Interest Disclosures Act" 1998, to report any type of abuse or malpractice that is detrimental to the well-being of the people living and working in Elm Cottage.
