Due to continued business growth our marine client in Aberdeen is looking to add permanent Surveyors and Senior Surveyors to their team of staff.  

As a Senior Surveyor you will provide technical support to the company's permanent vessels and survey equipment including data acquisition and data processing systems for field operations.    

As a Senior Surveyor you will be responsible for ensuring acquired survey data is of acceptable quality.  

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

  • A qualification in surveying, hydrography, ocean science or closely related subject is essential.
  • Good understanding of rig positioning and geophysical survey principles.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, travel when required and work offshore for periods of up to 4 weeks.
  • Experience of working offshore in hydrographic, geophysical or construction survey.
  • Commercial experience of delivering hydrographic survey data (i.e. multibeam, tides, backscatter, GNSS).
  • Experience of industry-standard geophysical survey software (e.g. Edgetech, Kongsberg, Trimble, EIVA, Teledyne CARIS, Hypack).
  • Experience operating or repairing survey equipment – multibeam echo sounder, single beam echo sounder, USBL systems, GNSS equipment, 2D and 3D seismic. 
  • Have previous experience in a similar position, ideally with a qualification in surveying, hydrography or ocean science.
  • Hold strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to surveying.
  • Hold a good understanding of rig positioning and geographical survey principles.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Assist the offshore teams in the navigation and processing setup offshore.
  • Trips offshore to undertake survey and positioning operations.
  • Assist with the planning of offshore activities; ensure all parties are fully informed of mobilisation/planning arrangements.
  • Providing feedback from the office with regards to any data quality issues that are evident.
  • Liaise with senior management teams regarding software/hardware design, functionality and performance, in order to make improvements.
  • Continually seek the identification of new working methods/practices and ways to improve project efficiencies and technology and software.
  • Undertake specific projects as instructed by management.
